Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Friends Dining Club

Meeting the social needs of the Lesbian, Gay and Bi-sexual Community

The Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Friends Dining Club was established by Keith Drury in August 2002. It was set up due to the lack of opportunities there were to meet new people from the Lesbian, Gay and Bi-sexual Community in Wrexham, North Wales. It is a group of people that meet on a monthly basis for dinners in a local Wrexham restaurant. Since it began, it has developed into a well respected club consisting of people from different social, economic and professional/non-professional backgrounds. Those who attend feel safe and accepted by a very caring community of people without fear of discrimination.

From Thursday June 8th 2006 Keith began a series of meetings with members of the LGBT communities to look at developing a new organisation for Wrexham and District, North Wales. On Tuesday 5th September at the Guildhall, Wrexham, North Wales, 6 officers were elected and a constitution adopted to form an organisation called 'LGBT Wrexham and District'. Keith's vision is to see this new organisation work in close partnership with other agencies, professionals, organisations (statutory and non-statutory) and LGBT member groups, to meet the needs of the LGBT communities in Wrexham and District, to be a voice for the LGBT communities in local and national issues, to offer a safe and confidential space for meetings and social gatherings, to liaise closely with statutory and non-statutory organisations, to provide advice, information, guidance, support and training appropriate to the needs of the LGBT communities and their friends. To provide opportunities for social, emotional, mental and physical stimulation of LGBT people within Wrexham and District. Please refer to their website WWW.LGBTWREXHAM.BTIK.COM for further information about the organisation, their events and activities.
